Before & After Waxing

Before Your Brazilian Waxing Appointment

NOTE: You cannot be waxed if you are taking Accutane, Retin-A or antibiotics.

  • DO NOT tan 24 hours prior to your appointment. If you are getting a Brazilian wax just make sure you have your entire bikini area covered if you do tan.

  • Your hair needs to be at least ΒΌ inch long. This is about 7 to 10 days growth for most women. If the hair is shorter it will be more difficult to remove.

  • You should try to avoid booking your appointment when you have your period. You are a little more sensitive to discomfort during this time. However, If you booked your appointment and you happen to get your period, you can still keep your appointment as long as you wear a tampon.

  • People have said that taking Advil or Tylenol 1 hour prior to your waxing helps reduce the discomfort.

  • Try to avoid wearing extremely tight pants. Normal to loose is recommended. Tight pants might rub you and cause discomfort.

  • BE ON TIME! I know this is silly but you would be surprised how many people show up late. Please leave yourself plenty of time. On busy days we sometimes book pretty close together. If you are going to be late PLEASE CALL!  309-219-1140.

  • We are by appointment only and we keep our doors locked while in service.  We make every effort to have the door unlocked 5-15 minutes before your appointment time.

Basic Do Nots
  • NO tanning beds for at least 24 hours.
When you get waxed it exfoliates the area. This removes all the dead skin that provides a layer of protection from sunburn. You need to give your skin at least 24 hours (48 hours if possible) to regenerate its protection. This one not NOT optional!
  • NO hot shower or bath for at least 12 hours.
Directly after waxing your hair follicle is left open. This makes it susceptible hot water entering the open hair follicle during a shower or bath. This will irritate the area and create discomfort. Once your follicles close you can return to your normal bathing routine.

  • DO NOT touch the waxed area for at least 6 hours.
Directly after waxing your hair follicle is left open. This makes it susceptible to infection from touch. Fingernails are the biggest carrier of germs. If germs get into your open hair follicle it can cause irritation and in extreme cases infection. Give the hair follicle at least 6 hours to close.

  • DO NOT have intimate contact in the waxed area for at least 6 hours.
This can be a judgment call by you but the rubbing and perspiration can cause irritation. This will be more of a issue after your first Brazilian wax. If you get waxed on a regular basses irritation will be less likely.

  • NO super tight clothing for 12 hours.
This can be a judgment call by you but the rubbing of super tight clothing can cause irritation. If this happens wear looser clothing until the irritation subsides.

  • NO heavy exercising for at least 24 hours.
Rubbing and perspiration can cause irritation. If you exercise, perspiration will enter the open hair follicle and irritate the area. Give it a day or so before resuming your exercise routine.
