Lash Extensions Frequently Asked Questions

We get lots of questions at our spa regarding lash services.  If you don't see any of your questions that you may have listed here, feel free to send us a message, give us a call or send us a text.

How long do Lash Extensions last for?

Semi-Permanent lash extensions will last as long as you want them to.  What this means is  that we offer fill-in's and we recommend that you come about every 2 weeks for a fill.  When you do this, your lash extension will remain with you indefinitely.  We offer temporary volume lashes, our signature lash treatment, and they last 2-6 weeks.  We don't offer fills for these.  You can either let them grow out naturally or you can let us remove them for you. A natural lash typically sheds every 60 to 90 days and is replaced with the growth of a new eyelash. At any given moment, each of your natural eyelashes is at a different stage of its life cycle. Touch ups will replace the lashes that have completed their life cycle.

What are semi-permanent eyelash extensions?

Semi-permanent eyelash extensions are single strand of synthetic or mink eyelash that is curved and used to replicate a natural eyelash.  We offer them in various sizes, both in length, curve, thickness and color.

Are eyelash extensions safe?

The real question is the adhesive safe?  The adhesives that we use at Vanilla Sugar contain the same ingredient that plastic surgeons use in the U.S. for suture-less wound closure.  Although we do not stick the adhesive directly to your skin, it comes in close proximity.  Receiving lash extensions is pain-free and won't harm your eyes or your natural lashes.  We never apply lash extensions directly to your eyelids.

How are lash extensions applied?

You have the chance to relax on our memory foam tables, close your eyes and allow your lash stylist to apply the eyelash extensions to your individual natural lashes, one at a time while using a medical grade adhesive.

How do I prepare for my treatment?

This is a very important aspect of receiving a lash service.  Please do not curl your lashes or wear ANY mascara.  Remove contact lenses and thoroughly clean your lashes with a mild. water based cleanser.  Your lashes and eyelids MUST be completely clean and dry.  We also recommend NOT using any creams near the eyes on the day of your treatment.  Oils in the creams can spread to your lashes and can disrupt the adhesion process.

Can I apply mascara to extensions?

A major advantage to having lash extensions is that you won't need mascara.  However, with some of our lash extensions where we don't apply a lot of lashes, you may choose to wear mascara.  If so, please DO NOT wear a water proof or oil based mascara.  If so, this will break up the adhesive and you will lose lashes prematurely.

How do I care of eyelash extensions?

You lash stylist will give you a post-care guide after you receive your lash extensions and will answer any other questions you may have.

LASHES DISCLAIMER & GUARANTEE

Please be advised that there are many medical conditions that may result in thinning hair and lashes and loss of hair and lashes, and also medications that have side effects. Some side effects can affect the natural hair growth process, which therefore can affect client lash retention. Every individual situation is different and therefore cannot be predicted. This is something Vanilla Sugar Face & Body, LLC has no control over. We have many different professional, medical grade adhesives we use and if one product does not work well, we will try another to see if it has better lash retention for the client. Naturally clients shed 1-3 natural lashes per day, therefore if an extension is attached to that lash that has shed, that is normal. Shedding can happen on the same day of an application, as there is no indication on a natural lash that an extension has been applied to whether or not it is about to shed. Therefore clients should have 50% of their extensions remaining at the time of a fill-in {for semi-permanent lashes or volume lashes.} Please use care when administering contacts. People can develop allergies to anything at anytime, so if you feel you may have developed an allergy to any of the eyelash care and/or eyelash products used, please let us know immediately so the eyelashes can be removed in a professional manner, and seek your doctor for assistance.

IF CLIENT NOTIFIES US DIRECTLY WITHIN 1-2 DAYS AFTER A LASH APPLICATION OF LASH RETENTION ISSUES, WE WILL DO OUR BEST TO PROVIDE A LASH FIX ASAP. PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT LASH CARE BY THE CLIENT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT AND WILL BE ASSESSED TO DETERMINE IF A LASH FIX IS WARRANTED.
