Before Spray Tanning:

1. Exfoliate Your Skin:

Gently exfoliate your skin to remove dead cells and create a smooth surface for the tan. Pay special attention to rough areas like elbows, knees, and ankles.

2. Avoid Moisturizers and Oils:

Refrain from applying moisturizers, oils, or lotions on the day of your spray tan. These substances can create a barrier that affects the absorption of the tanning solution.

3. Skip Makeup, Deodorant, and Perfume:

Come to your appointment with a clean, makeup-free face. Avoid using deodorant or perfume, as these products can interfere with the tanning process.

4. Can pregnant women get a spray tan?

Opt for loose, dark-colored clothing to prevent any rubbing or smudging of the tan. Tight clothing can disrupt the application and development of the tanning solution.

After Spray Tanning:

1. Wait Before Showering:

Allow the tan to develop fully by waiting at least 8-12 hours before showering. This gives the DHA in the tanning solution enough time to react with your skin.

2. Use Lukewarm Water for the First Shower:

When you do shower, use lukewarm water rather than hot water. Hot water can strip away the tan more quickly. Avoid using harsh soaps or exfoliating products during the first shower.

3. Pat, Don't Rub, Your Skin Dry:

After showering, gently pat your skin dry with a towel instead of rubbing. This helps preserve the tan and prevents unnecessary exfoliation.

4. Moisturize Regularly:

Keep your skin hydrated by applying a moisturizer regularly. This helps extend the life of your spray tan and ensures an even fade.

5. Avoid Activities that Cause Excessive Sweating:

Excessive sweating can lead to faster fading of the tan. Avoid strenuous activities or saunas immediately after your spray tan.

6. Be Mindful of Clothing:

Be cautious of tight or light-colored clothing, especially in the first 24 hours. While the initial bronzer may transfer, it is water-soluble and should wash out easily.

7. Protect Your Skin from the Sun:

Remember that a spray tan does not provide protection from the sun. Use sunscreen with appropriate SPF when exposing your skin to sunlight.

8. Maintain Regular Sessions:

To keep a consistent tan, consider scheduling regular spray tanning sessions every 1-2 weeks, depending on your preferences and lifestyle.
