Lash Extensions

Everything You Might Wonder

For pricing see our volume extensions page, and for aftercare our extension care guide.

How long do lash extensions last?

Semi-permanent extensions can last indefinitely if maintained properly, with fill-ins every two to four weeks. Alternatively you can let them grow out naturally or have them professionally removed. Your natural lashes have a life cycle of 60 to 90 days, and because each lash is at a different stage, touch-ups replace the ones that have completed their cycle.

What are semi-permanent eyelash extensions?

Artificial lashes made of synthetic or mink material, curved to imitate the look of natural lashes. We offer a variety of lengths, curves, thicknesses and colors to suit your preferences.

Is it safe to get eyelash extensions?

Safety depends on the adhesive. We use one containing the same ingredient plastic surgeons in the US use for wound closure. Although it comes close to the skin, we never apply it directly to the eyelids. The process is pain-free and will not harm your eyes or natural lashes.

How are lash extensions applied?

You recline on our comfortable memory foam beds and close your eyes while our lash stylist meticulously applies individual extensions to your natural lashes, one by one, using a medical-grade adhesive that is safe for your eyes and lashes.

How should I prepare for my appointment?

Do not curl your lashes or wear mascara, remove contact lenses, and clean your lashes thoroughly with a mild water-based cleanser. Both lashes and eyelids need to be completely clean and dry. Avoid creams near your eyes on the day, since the oils spread to the lashes and interfere with adhesion.

Can I wear mascara with extensions?

The main advantage of extensions is that you no longer need it, but some clients still choose to. Avoid waterproof and oil-based formulas, as both break down the adhesive and cause premature lash loss.

How do I care for my extensions?

Keep them dry for the first 24 to 48 hours. After that, clean gently with an oil-free cleanser and a soft brush. Avoid cotton pads and swabs, as the fibers catch. Be gentle, avoid rubbing or pulling, keep oil-based products away, and try not to sleep on your stomach or with your face against the pillow.

What if my lashes don't last as long as expected?

Tell us within one to two days of your appointment and we will do our best to provide a fix as soon as possible. Lash care at home plays a large part in retention and will be assessed to determine whether a fix is warranted.

Safety

About the Adhesive We Use

The safety of eyelash extensions comes down almost entirely to the adhesive. At Vanilla Sugar we use an adhesive containing the same ingredient used by plastic surgeons in the US for wound closure.

Although the adhesive comes into close proximity with the skin, we never apply it directly to the eyelids. Each extension is attached to an individual natural lash, one by one.

Getting lash extensions is a pain-free process and will not cause harm to your eyes or your natural lashes. You recline on our memory foam beds, close your eyes, and most clients find it relaxing enough to fall asleep.

Our Commitment

Disclaimer & Guarantee

We would rather be upfront about what affects lash retention than have you find out afterwards.

Our Retention Guarantee If you notify us directly within one to two days after a lash application about retention issues, we will do our best to provide a lash fix as soon as possible. Please be aware that lash care by the client is extremely important and will be assessed to determine whether a fix is warranted.

Medical conditions

Certain medical conditions and medications can cause hair and lash thinning or loss, which affects retention. We cannot predict every individual situation, as each case is unique.

Adhesive options

We use various professional, medical-grade adhesives. If one product does not work well for you, we will try another to improve retention.

Natural shedding

It is natural to shed one to three natural lashes per day. If an extension is attached to a shedding lash, losing it is normal. Shedding can happen on the same day as application.

Fill-in requirement

For semi-permanent or volume lashes, you should have 50% of your extensions remaining at the time of a fill-in.

Allergic reactions

Allergies can develop at any time. If you suspect a reaction to any product used, tell us immediately so the lashes can be removed professionally. We advise seeking help from a doctor in the case of an allergic reaction.
