1. What is spray tanning?

Spray tanning is a sunless tanning method that involves the application of a tanning solution to the skin using a spray gun or misting booth. This solution contains an active ingredient called Dihydroxyacetone (DHA), which reacts with the outer layer of the skin to produce a tan.

2. Is spray tanning safe?

Yes, spray tanning is considered a safe alternative to traditional sun tanning. The active ingredient, DHA, has been approved by the FDA for topical use. However, it's essential to follow the recommended safety guidelines and protect your eyes, nose, and mouth during the application.

3. How long does a spray tan last?

On average, a spray tan can last anywhere from 5 to 10 days, depending on factors such as skin type, preparation, and aftercare. Regular moisturizing and avoiding activities that may cause excessive sweating can help prolong the tan. We’ve seen our tans last up to 2 weeks.

4. Can pregnant women get a spray tan?

While there is no conclusive evidence suggesting that spray tanning is harmful during pregnancy, it's advisable for pregnant women to consult with their healthcare provider before undergoing any cosmetic procedures, including spray tanning.

5. Will a spray tan protect my skin from the sun?

No, a spray tan does not provide protection from the sun's harmful UV rays. It's essential to use sunscreen with appropriate SPF when exposed to sunlight to prevent sunburn and skin damage.

6. How should I prepare for a spray tan?

To achieve the best results, exfoliate your skin before the session, avoid using moisturizers or oils, and refrain from wearing makeup, deodorant, or perfume. Wear loose, dark clothing to the appointment.

7. Can I shower after a spray tan?

It's generally recommended to wait at least 8-12 hours before showering after a spray tan to allow the DHA to fully develop. During the first shower, use lukewarm water and avoid using harsh soaps or exfoliating products.

8. Will a spray tan stain my clothes?

While the initial bronzer in the spray tan solution may transfer to clothing, it is water-soluble and should wash out easily. Wearing dark, loose-fitting clothing immediately after the session can minimize the risk of transfer.

9. How often can I get a spray tan?

The frequency of spray tanning depends on individual preferences and lifestyle. Many people choose to get a spray tan every 1-2 weeks to maintain a consistent tan.

10. Can I swim after getting a spray tan?

It's advisable to wait at least 24 hours before swimming, as chlorine and saltwater can affect the longevity of the tan. After swimming, pat your skin dry instead of rubbing to preserve the tan.
